RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council:
1. Accept the work performed by Carvajal Trucking & Tractor, Inc. (CT&T) for the
2012 CDBG Sidewalk Replacement Project, PZ963, CDBG No. 601474-12
(Sidewalk Replacement Project); and
2. Authorize filing a Notice of Completion; and
3. Authorize the release of the retention funds in the amount of $2,877.65 after the
expiration of the 35-day lien period.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On February 11, 2013, the City Council awarded a construction contract to CT&T to
construct the 2012/2013 CDBG Sidewalk Replacement Project. The Sidewalk
Replacement Project consisted of removing damaged sidewalk sections on
Sherbourne Drive, McManus Avenue, and within Syd Kronenthal Park and
constructing new sidewalk sections.
Change Orders
The Sidewalk Replacement Project incurred one (1) change order in the amount of
nineteen hundred and seventy-seven dollars and fifty cents ($1,977.50) due to an City of Culver City, California

additional sidewalk removal. Also there was a $600.00 credit due to one tree being
removed by the City instead of the Contractor.

MOTIONS:
That the City Council:
1. Accept the work performed by Carvajal Trucking & Tractor, Inc. for the 2012
CDBG Sidewalk Replacement Project, PZ963, CDBG No. 601474-12; and,
2. Authorize the Public Works Director/City Engineer to execute the Notice of
Completion and submit it to the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office; and,
3. Authorize the City Manager to release $2,877.65 in retention to Carvajal
Trucking & Tractor, Inc. after the expiration of the 35-day lien period.
