Approval of the Revised Classified Classification Specification for Transit Operations Supervisor.
|
City of Culver City, California
City Council Agenda Item Report
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council approve the Revised Classified Classification
Specification for Transit Operations Supervisor.
BACKGROUND:
The Transit Operations Supervisor classification specification has been revised to
align the classification with other safety sensitive positions within the Transportation
Department that require a Class B driver’s license with Passenger Endorsement.
DISCUSSION:
A Transit Operations Supervisor is the first line supervisor and is responsible for
overseeing the day-to-day transit operations. This position schedules and dispatches
Bus Operators as well as performs driving duties in emergencies. These
responsibilities make experience as a public transit operator essential to the overall
understanding of the positions and operations this classification oversees. The
proposed revisions to the classification specification include possession of a good
driving record during the last three (3) years prior to employment and up to the date
of employment. A good driving record is defined as:
1) Having no accidents, warrants, records of negligence or recklessness while
driving; and
2) Having no more than one (1) moving violation.
