Nachbar (02/23/11) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council accept $24,803.00 in grant funds awarded by the 2009 State Homeland Security Grant Program to be used to reimburse training costs and (2) approve a budget amendment related thereto. A budget amendment requires a four-fifths vote. BACKGROUND: The City of Culver City has been awarded grant funding from the 2009 State Homeland Security Grant Program as part of a federal effort to assist local agencies in obtaining the equipment and training needed to effectively respond to a terrorist incident. This grant will provide funds for the reimbursement of overtime and backfill costs for fire department training. 2009 State Homeland Security Grant Program Award Award Item Funds Received Reimbursement for Fire Department Training Costs $24,803.00 FISCAL ANALYSIS: There is no requirement for matching funds. The grant provides for the reimbursement of all overtime and backfill costs for the specified training. It is City of Culver City, California Agenda Item Report proposed that these funds be appropriated into account 41445500 – Homeland Security Grant – Fire. ATTACHMENTS: None. MOTION: That the City Council: 1. Authorize the acceptance of $24,803 in grant funds for equipment and training costs awarded by the 2009 State Homeland Security Grant Program; and, 2. Approve a budget amendment appropriating $24,803 into account 41445500 – Homeland Security Grant - Fire (a budget amendment requires a four- fifths vote); and, 3. Authorize the City Attorney to review/prepare the necessary documents; and, 4. Authorize the City Manager to execute such documents on behalf of the City.
