RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve a Purchase Order for the acquisition of one ride-on sweeper from Staples Advantage in an amount not-to-exceed $44,857.93 to replace the Transportation Department’s existing sweeper.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Transportation Department uses a ride-on sweeper to clean in and around the Transportation Facility. The Department’s current sweeper is more than fifteen years old, and has exceeded both the warranty period and its life cycle. The sweeper is now in need of replacement.
Section 3.07.045.G of the Culver City Municipal Code exempts purchases from the formal competitive bidding requirements when competitive bid procedures have already been utilized by another public agency. Because of the City’s participation with the National Joint Powers Alliance, this procurement meets this requirement.
FISCAL ANALYSIS
On February 22, 2016, the City Council approved a budget amendment for the purchase of a ride-on sweeper. Sufficient funding was consequently made available in the City Council Adopted Budget for Fiscal Year 2015/2016 - Transportation Department (20370300.732100) to support the proposed expenditure.
