RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council:
1. Accept the work performed by Unique Performance Construction, Inc. for the
Washington Place Streetlight Improvement Project, Phase II, PZ-684;
2. Authorize filing a Notice of Completion; and,
3. Authorize the release of the retention funds in the amount of $7,400.35 after the
expiration of the 35-five day lien period.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On April 22, 2013, the City Council awarded a contract to Unique Performance
Construction, Inc. to construct the Washington Place Streetlight Improvement
Project, Phase II, PZ-684. The project replaced and upgraded the existing streetlight
system, which had become obsolete. The project limits were on the south side of
Washington Place between McLaughlin Avenue and Albright Avenue. The scope of
work included the replacement of conduits, wiring, and replacement of fourteen (14)
existing non-standard concrete streetlights with new 28-foot-high anti-graffiti
‘marbelite’ streetlight standards and new fixtures with energy efficient 250W
Induction lamps.

That the City Council:
1. Accept the work performed by Unique Performance Construction, Inc. for
the Washington Place Streetlight Improvement Project, Phase II, PZ-684;
and,
2. Authorize the Public Works Director/City Engineer to execute the Notice of
Completion and submit it to the Los Angeles County Recorder’s office; and,
3. Authorize the City Manager to release $7,400.35 in retention to Unique
Performance Construction, Inc. after the expiration of the 35-day lien period.
