RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC) (1) receive and file a report from the 2025-2026 Public Events Ad Hoc Subcommittee; (2) discuss and make recommendations as deemed necessary; and (3) if deemed appropriate, consider approval of the report’s recommendations.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
In July 2020, the Equity and Human relations Advisory Committee was created. In August 2020, EHRAC’s Ad Hoc Outreach Subcommittee solicited the Culver City community’s feedback in the creation of the 2020-2021 Fiscal Year Workplan comprised of 2020-2021 upcoming events and projects. Community Members were asked to provide Public Comment in regard to what they would like to see EHRAC undertake for the remainder of the fiscal year.
On April 27, 2021, EHRAC reached consensus to create a Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Public Events Ad Hoc Subcommittee tasked with planning the upcoming events that would comprise of the upcoming Fiscal Year’s Workplan.
At the July 26, 2022, Regular Meeting, EHRAC reached consensus to approve the report from the 2022-2023 Public Events and Budget Ad Hoc Committee regarding the budget and planned events for Fiscal Year 2022-2023. (Attachment 1)
At the January 24, 2023, Regular Meeting, EHRAC reached consensus to approve the report from the 2023-2024 Public Events and Budget Ad Hoc Committee regarding the budget and planned events for Fiscal Year 2023-2024. (Attachment 2)
At the January 26, 2024, Regular Meeting, EHRAC reached consensus to combine the Public Events Ad Hoc Subcommittee with the Budget Ad Hoc Subcommittee, as the members were the same and the scope/purpose of both Ad Hoc Subcommittees were interdependent.
At the April 23, 2024, Regular Meeting, EHRAC reached consensus to approve the report from the 2024-2025 Public Events and Budget Ad Hoc Committee regarding the budget and planned events for Fiscal Year 2024-2025. (Attachment 3)
At the January 28, 2025, Regular Meeting, EHRAC reached consensus to form and appoint Members thereto, and to hear a report from, the 2025-2026 Public Events and Budget Ad Hoc Subcommittee at the April 22, 2025, Regular Meeting.
At the April 22, 2025, Regular Meeting, EHRAC reached consensus to push the item to the May 20, 2025, Special Meeting. In the meantime, staff has committed to presenting the proposed plan to the Department Director and the City Manager for review.
DISCUSSION
Consider and discuss the report from the 2025-2026 Public Events and Budget Ad Hoc Subcommittee (Attachment 4), taking the following into consideration:
• Member and Staff Capacity;
• Current Climate/Council Recommendations;
• Past events;
• Budget; and
• Potential Community Input.
