RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Commission take a tour of Culver City parks and facilities.
BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION
PRCS Director Corey Lakin and Parks Manager/City Landscape Architect Patrick Reynolds will accompany the members of the PRCS Commission on a tour of Culver City parks and facilities (“Parks Tour”). Members of the City Council, the Culver City Unified School District (CCUSD) Superintendent and the Members of the CCUSD Board of Education are also invited to attend.
The meeting will begin in the Kaizuka Room at the Veterans Memorial Building, 4117 Overland Avenue, Culver City, CA 90230, at 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. After briefly conducting other business, the tour will proceed from Veterans Memorial Park. The order of the Parks Tour may be subject to change, depending upon traffic conditions and other factors. However, the planned itinerary is as follows:
1. Veterans Memorial Park
2. Tellefson Park
3. Culver West Alexander Park
4. El Marino Park
5. Fox Hills Park and Fox Hills Mini-Park
6. Blanco Park
7. Culver City Park
8. Blair Hills Park
9. Syd Kronenthal Park
10. Carlson Park
11. The Culver City Senor Center
12. Return to Veterans Memorial Park
The map of Culver City Parks and Facilities that appears on page 20 of the Summer 2018 edition of Culver City Living has been provided as Attachment 1. A City van is being provided for transportation and, if necessary, additional vehicles will also utilized for the Parks Tour. Director Lakin and Parks Manager Reynolds will take tour participants to sites of recent and upcoming capital improvement projects, answer questions, and provide information regarding a variety of issues relating to Culver City parks and facilities
FISCAL ANALYSIS
It is anticipated that a one-day Parks Tour will have a minimal impact on PRCS Department staffing and budgetary resources.
