RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC): 1) approve a statement supporting the Jewish community and condemning recent antisemitic attacks; 2) discuss recommendations for next steps; and 3) provide direction to staff as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
At the October 25, 2022 regular meeting, the Committee originally achieved consensus to agendize the consideration of adopting a statement supporting the Jewish community in light of the recent antisemitic attacks. There have been several versions of the proposed statement condemning recent antisemitic acts that have been reviewed and discussed during the EHRAC regular meetings, both with committee members and members of the public.
The committee will be reviewing and discussing a revised version of the statement during the June 27, 2023 regular meeting. The revised version of the statement, which consists of more relevancy, is attached to this staff report.
FISCAL ANALYSIS
There is no fiscal impact associated with this agenda item.
