RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council re-consider the appointments of City
Councilmembers to two Committees (the Brotman Medical Center Committee and
the Culver City Unified School District/City Council Liaison Committee), re-consider
the appointment of an alternate to the Judiciary and Finance Committee.
BACKGROUND:
On April 23, 2007, the City Council made appointments to various City Council
Committees. On the same evening, the City Council determined to re-consider
appointments to the Brotman Medical Center Committee and the Culver City Unified
School District Committee at the next available opportunity.
Upon review of the broadcast of the City Council meeting of April 23, 2007, staff
recommends the City Council also re-consider the appointment of Councilmember
Rose as the alternate to the Judiciary and Finance Committee (as he was appointed
as a member to the same Committee on April 23, 2007).
DISCUSSION:
At the time the City Council considered the appointment of Councilmembers to the
Brotman Medical Center Committee and the Culver City Unified School District/City
Council Liaison Committee, the City Council directed staff to return to the City

Council with an agenda item for Council’s discussion of appointments of
Councilmembers to these two Committees.
With respect to the Culver City Unified School District/City Council Liaison
Committee, on April 23, 2007, Mayor Corlin indicated his willingness to consider
offering his position on the Committee to another Councilmember once a long-
planned meeting of the Committee was held.
Later in the evening on April 23, 2007, the Redevelopment Agency appointed
Member Gross and Member Silbiger to the Redevelopment Agency’s Brotman
Medical Center Committee. The Committee has not met since the appointments
made on April 23, 2007. It is recommended the City Council appoint the same two
Councilmembers so that the City Council Committee has the same membership as
the Redevelopment Agency Committee. (Vice-Mayor Gross and Councilmember
Malsin were appointed by the City Council to serve on the Brotman Medical Center
Committee on April 23, 2007)
With respect to the alternate to the Judiciary and Finance Committee, staff
recommends Council consider appointment of a Councilmember other than
Councilmember Rose (or Councilmember Malsin) as alternate. (The Committee
members are Councilmember Malsin and Councilmember Rose).
FISCAL ANALYSIS:
Discussion of these items does not create a fiscal impact.

That the City Council:
1. Reconsider one or both Councilmember appointments to the Brotman
Medical Center Committee (with a recommendation that Vice-Mayor Gross
and Councilmember Silbiger be appointed)
2. Reconsider one or both Councilmember appointments to the Culver City
Unified School District/City Council Liaison Committee
3. Consider appointment of an alternate to the Judiciary and Finance Committee
other than Councilmember Rose.
