City of Culver City, California Agenda Item Report RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council (1) consider the creation of the position of Honorary Poet Laureate and (2) (if created) appoint a person to such position. BACKGROUND: At the City Council meeting of October 27, 2014, the City Council directed the City Manager to place the consideration of the position of Honorary City Poet Laureate on a future agenda. Pursuant to that direction, this report is present to the City Council this evening. DISCUSSION: Dr. Janet Hoult has provided the attachments for the City Council’s consideration. FISCAL IMPACT: Using the City’s experience with the position of Honorary City Historian as a guide, should the City Council determine to create and appoint someone to the position of Honorary City Poet Laureate with a role similar to Honorary City Historian, the fiscal impact of the creation of the position of Honorary City Poet Laureate is not expected to be material.
