Fulwood (03/09/06) City Controller Approval: Marlee Chang (03/09/06) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve a Technology Grant in the Amount of $25,000 from Comcast Cable Communications, Inc. (Comcast) and authorize the Chief Administrative Officer to accept said Grant on behalf of the City. A Budget Amendment is recommended and requires a 4/5ths vote. BACKGROUND: During recent discussions, Comcast officials notified the City of Comcast’s offer to provide the City with a Technology Grant (Grant) in the amount of $25,000. The Grant was offered by Comcast with payment to the City to be made no later than March 16, 2006. DISCUSSION: Should the City Council approve and authorize the CAO to accept the Grant, the proceeds would be placed in the City’s General Fund and be available for appropriation by the City Council for any purpose. It should be noted Staff has considered applying these funds as partial offset to inspection costs related to the upcoming cable television inventory (specifically, the proposed contract with Kramer.Firm Incorporated). A request for this contract is being included with the Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2006/2007. FISCAL ANALYSIS: City of Culver City, California City Council Agenda Item Report Acceptance of this Grant would increase revenues in the General Fund by an unanticipated $25,000.00. It is proposed these funds would be deposited in the Miscellaneous Income – CAO’s Office (10110100.386100) account ATTACHMENTS: 1. Letter from Comcast dated February 8, 2006. MOTION: That the City Council: 1. Approve a Technology Grant in the Amount of $25,000 from Comcast Cable Communications, Inc. (Comcast) and authorize the Chief Administrative Officer to accept said Grant on behalf of the City; and, 2. Adopt a Budget Amendment increasing budgeted revenue in the Miscellaneous Income – CAO’s Office (10110100.386100) from $0 to $25,000. A 4/5ths vote is required.
