RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Civil Service Commission approve the revised classification specification and recruitment bulletin for Training and Safety Instructor.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Transportation Department provides public transit service on seven regular routes throughout Culver City. The Training and Safety Instructor classification is part of the Transportation Department’s Transit Operations Division. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal rules and regulations related to public transportation through training and safety programs.
In anticipation of opening a recruitment to fill a current vacancy, revisions to the Training and Safety Instructor classification specification and recruitment bulletin are being proposed by Human Resources staff in concurrence with Transportation management. The proposed changes throughout the classification specification and recruitment bulletin capture the actual job duties being performed by the current incumbents and reflect the current needs of the department.
In addition, the proposed revisions will assist the City with providing clarity to applicants regarding essential duties and requirements of the position, and the knowledge, skill and ability expected to perform these duties.
