Staff recommends the Economic Development Subcommittee discuss 1) the Explore Culver City website development and program, and; 2) the launch of the Hospitality and Entertainment Advisory CommitteeGroup.
BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION
Explore Culver City Website Development and Program
Staff has been working with Granicus over the last several months on the development of the official Explore Culver City website. The front end of the page was completed and revealed to staff on August 17th. Work is continuing the back-end architecture. Staff will be meeting with Granicus on a weekly basis to complete this work and upload City specific information related to dining, shopping, hospitality and cultural/event happenings. The proposed site development will be shared during the Subcommittee meeting for review and comment.
Additionally, staff will be collaborating with a graphic artist related to the creation of Explore Culver City merchandise and media that can be made available at City events, shops and hotels. Other campaign/program elements could include:
• Street Banners
• Bus Advertisements
• Digital/Print Media
• Website optimization
• Kiosk Buttons and Brand Placements
Hospitality and Entertainment Advisory Committee Group Launch
As discussed at the July 27th meeting, staff has invited key hospitality and entertainment stakeholders to participate in an Entertainment and Advisory committee to provide staff with strategic insight, share emerging industry trends, identify opportunities to enhance Culver City’s visitor economy, and offer recommendations that support business growth, destination marketing, special events, tourism initiatives, and public-private partnerships that benefit our entire community. The first meeting is tentatively slated for the week of September 7th.
