RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council accept the work performed by the Contractor,
C.S. Legacy Construction, Inc., and authorize filing Notice of Completions for the
Culver City Dog Park Project (P-816), Phase II
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On October 22, 2007, the Council awarded a construction contract to C.S. Legacy
Construction, Inc. for the Culver City Dog Park Project (P-816), Phase II in the
amount of $123,102.
The scope of work consisted of new irrigation and landscape, stabilized
decomposed granite surface, walkway, shade structures, fencing, signage,
drinking fountains, and conduits for future lighting.
The project was successfully completed by C.S. Legacy Construction, Inc. One
change order was issued due to extra work items as requested by staff. The total
amount of the change order was $3,988.
It should be noted that additional gravel sumps were installed in accordance with the
construction plan in order to improve the drainage for the two existing drinking
fountains. The new gravel sumps have mitigated most of the drainage overflow from
the drinking fountains with only occasional seepage at the ground level.

FISCAL ANALYSIS:
The original construction contract amount for the project was $123,102. The final
construction cost was $127,090. There are sufficient funds in the project budget for
the final construction cost.
MOTIONS:
That the City Council:
1) Accept the work performed by the contractor, C.S. Legacy Construction, Inc.,
for the Culver City Dog Park Project (P-816), Phase II;
2) Authorize the filing of a Notice of Completion;
3) Authorize the Public Works Director to sign and submit the necessary
documents to the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office; and
4) Authorize the release of the retention funds in the amount of $12,709 to C.S.
Legacy Construction, Inc., for the Culver City Dog Park Project (P-816), Phase
II, following the expiration of the 35-day lien period.
