RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council discuss the issue of creation of a City Council
Subcommittee to discuss the format of the City Council agenda, speaker cards, and
related items, and appoint Council Members thereto.
BACKGROUND:
At a recent City Council meeting, the City Council directed that an item to consider
re-creation of a City Council Subcommittee to discuss the Format of the City Council
agenda, speaker cards, and related items be placed on a future agenda. The City
Council also requested the City Manager recommend Councilmembers to serve on
said Subcommittee in the case the City Council were to re-create it.
DISCUSSION:
The City Manager reviewed the current list of 46 Subcommittees and found that
Councilmembers Armenta and Weissman do not currently serve together on a
Subcommittee. Therefore, the City Manager recommends the City Council appoint
Councilmembers Armenta and Weissman to the Agenda Format Subcommittee if
the City Council determines to re-create said Subcommittee.

MOTION:
That the City Council:
1. Determine if the re- creation of a Subcommittee for the topics of format of
the City Council agenda, speaker cards, and related items is desired; and,
2. If desired, create a Subcommittee entitled “Agenda Format
Subcommittee”; and,
3. If created, appoint Councilmember Armenta and Councilmember
Weissman to serve on the Agenda Format Subcommittee.
