Nachbar (11/10/11) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council accept the work performed by the contractor, Gold Arc, Inc. (dba Pasco Doors), and authorize filing a Notice of Completion for the Veteran’s Memorial Park Facilities Americans with Disabilities Act Door Improvement Project (Community Development Block Grant Project #601317-10). It is also recommended that the City Council authorize staff to release the $4,336.60 retention to the contractor after the expiration of the thirty-five day lien period. BACKGROUND: On June 13, 2011, the City Council awarded a construction contract to Gold Arc, Inc. (dba Pasco Doors) for the Veteran’s Memorial Park Facilities Americans with Disabilities Act Door Improvement Project (Community Development Block Grant Project #601317-10). DISCUSSION: Gold Arc, Inc. (dba Pasco Doors) has successfully completed the work as required in the contract. The scope of work consisted of Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility improvements to various entry and exit doors at the Municipal Plunge and the Veteran’s Memorial Building. The following sets of doors were replaced and/or modified: City of Culver City, California Agenda Item Report Municipal Plunge Building: • The existing entry and exit doors at the main lobby of the Municipal Plunge were replaced with automatic sliding doors. • The existing entry and exit doors that lead from the main lobby to the pool deck were replaced with an automatic sliding door. • The interior door leading from the main lobby to the women’s shower room was retrofitted with a surface-mounted low energy door opener. • The doors leading from both the men’s and women’s shower rooms to the pool deck were retrofitted with surface-mounted low energy door openers. Veteran’s Memorial Building: • The two existing swing doors leading from the rear of the Registration Office at Veteran’s Memorial Building to the courtyard were replaced with a new double-swing low energy door. FISCAL ANALYSIS: The original contract amount for the project was $43,366. It was funded primarily from CDBG funds ($42,964). The remaining $402 was paid for with Quimby (Park In -Lieu) funds, 41900876.730100. The project was completed without any change orders. MOTION: That the City Council: 1) Accept the work performed by the contractor, Gold Arc, Inc. (dba Pasco Doors), for the Veteran’s Memorial Park Facilities Americans with Disabilities Act Door Improvement Project (Community Development Block Grant Project #601317- 10); and, 2) Authorize the Public Works Director/City Engineer to execute the Notice of Completion and submit it to the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office for recordation; and, 3) Authorize the release of $4,336.60 to Gold Arc, Inc. (dba Pasco Doors) following expiration of the 35-day lien period.
