RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) draft a Biannual Report to the City Council, including accomplishments during the period of January through June 2023 and an update on the upcoming 2023/2024 Plans; and (2) authorize transmittal to the City Council.
BACKGROUND
City Council Policy 3002, City Commissions, Boards and Committees; Appointed Representatives to Outside Agencies and Boards (CBC Policy), Section VI (page 7), states (in part): “Periodically, but no less than biannually, each CBC shall submit to the City Council a written report on their respective activities.” In order to prepare for this requirement, the City Clerk’s Office has directed staff to place this item on the agendas of all CBCs in July or August 2023.
The written report to the City Council must list the DAC’s accomplishments during the previous six-months and include an update on the upcoming 2023/2024 Work Plans. The report is due to the City Clerk’s Office before September 2023. City Clerk’s Office staff will then compile all of the work plans, draft a City Council staff report, and place it on the agenda as a “Receive and File” report. The previous report (Attachment 1) was presented to the City Council on February 27, 2023, along with those of the other CBCs.

Community Survey
The DAC distributed the Community Survey in March 2023 to the Culver City community.
Commendation Nomination Form
The DAC helped promote open nomination period and available application for the community for City Council commendations for Individuals and Organization for Outstanding Service to Persons with Disabilities

DAC Scheduled Activities Plan
PRCS staff has listed their recommended areas of focus for the DAC below. Committee Members may add areas they wish to focus on as part of the Scheduled Activities Plan at this evening’s meeting. For the Committee’s reference, their previous Scheduled Activities Plan that was transmitted to City Council is located in Attachment 1.
• Conduct outreach to City Departments, other Committees, Commissions and Boards in order to relay to them the mission of the Disability Advisory Committee and its wealth of expertise that can serve as a resource in the creation of policies or the planning of activities impacting community members with disabilities.
• Invite local non-profit partners to make presentations at upcoming DAC meetings in order to understand the resources available within the City for people with disabilities.
• Raise Disability Awareness in Culver City by working with City staff.
