BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
At its May 28, 2024, meeting, the City Council authorized staff to submit an Active Transportation Program (ATP) and other grant applications for the Better Overland & Safer Fox Hills Project.
Staff will continue to perform public outreach & stakeholder engagement regarding the project’s design through 2024. While outreach will include information on the project as a whole, particular emphasis will be placed gathering feedback regarding the design of Overland Ave between Culver Blvd and Virginia Ave where two alternatives are currently proposed:
• Alternative A: Maintain parking on both sides of street. Implement left turn restrictions at unsignalized intersections.
• Alternative B: Maintain center turning lane. Parking retained on east side of street.
Staff anticipate conducting outreach through a variety of means, including QR code surveys, community open houses, and walk audits. These engagement methods proved to be effective during the previous phases of public outreach. Staff intend to advertise events through postcards, via the City’s social media and email notification channels, and on the City’s website.
Committee members will have an opportunity to ask questions, make comments, discuss, and provide direction to staff regarding future community engagement efforts.
