RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council and the Boards of the Successor Agency,
the Housing Authority and the Parking Authority (collectively, “Boards”) approve an
amendment to the existing landscape maintenance services agreement with Marina
Landscape for the Downtown Business District Landscape Revitalization Project in
an amount not-to-exceed $37,228.40.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On June 23, 2014, the City Council and the Boards approved a two-year extension
to the professional services agreement with Marina Landscape to provide landscape
maintenance services and additional, as-needed services on a contingency basis for
a term ending on June 30, 2016 in an amount not-to-exceed $548,509.50. At that
time, Parks Manager Patrick Reynolds informed the City Council that he and his staff
were in the process of completing the Phase I Design of landscape areas in the
Town Plaza and Restaurant Row and that he had received preliminary cost
estimates for this work from Marina Landscape. However, since these discussions
were in the early stages, the cost of this work, now referred to as the Downtown
Business District Landscape Revitalization Project, was not included in the City-wide
landscape maintenance agreement that was approved by the City Council at that
time.

There are sufficient funds for the Downtown Business District Landscape
Revitalization Project included in the City Council Adopted Budget for Fiscal Year
2014/2015 in accounts 10130300.619810 (Parks Division / Other Contractual
Services / Downtown Landscaping) and 42080000.730100.PZ612 (Capital
Improvements / Improvements Other Than Buildings / Upgrade Park Irrigation
Systems).

MOTION:
That the City Council and Boards:
1. Approve an amendment to the existing landscape maintenance services
agreement with Marina Landscape for the Downtown Business District
Landscape Revitalization Project in an amount not-to-exceed $37,228.40;
and,
2. Authorize the City Attorney/Agency and Board General Counsel to
review/prepare the necessary documents; and,
3. Authorize the City Manager/Executive Director to execute such documents on
behalf of the City, the Successor Agency, the Housing Authority, and the
Parking Authority, respectively.
