RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC) (1) receive and file a report from the EHRAC Promotional Materials Ad Hoc Subcommittee; (2) discuss and consider the proposed text and design of the trifold and, if so desired, approve of the Draft EHRAC Promotional Trifold; and (3) determine next steps, as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND
Ahead of EHRAC’s May 28, 2024, Special Meeting, Member Rona provided an update from members celebrating a promotional piece from the Housing and Human Services Division entitled, “What to Know about the Culver City Landlord-Tenant Mediation Board.” A brief discussion ensued regarding the potential for EHRAC to create/develop similar materials to disperse at events in order to increase awareness of EHRAC and what it does.
At the July 23, 2024, Regular Meeting, EHRAC achieved consensus to move forward with the following:
1. Creating an EHRAC Promotional Materials Ad Hoc Subcommittee; and
2. Appoint Members Rebecca Rona and Samia Bano thereto.
At the August 27, 2024, Special Meeting, EHRAC achieved consensus to add Member Jezenia Aguirre to the EHRAC Promotional Materials Ad Hoc Subcommittee and to hear a report from the EHRAC Promotional Materials Ad Hoc Subcommittee at the September 17, 2024, Special Meeting.
At the September 17, 2024, Special Meeting, the Promotional Materials Ad Hoc Subcommittee presented the following for the proposed promotional materials: (Attachment 1)
1. The intended purpose of the materials;
2. The expected content; and
3. Distribution locations.
At the October 22, 2024, Regular Meeting, EHRAC achieved consensus to hear a report from the Promotional Materials Ad Hoc Subcommittee at the November 19, 2024, Special Meeting, with regards to the text and design of the brochure.
DISCUSSION
EHRAC will review and discuss the November 19, 2024, EHRAC Promotional Materials Ad Hoc Subcommittee Report (Attachments 2 and 3), which includes the following:
1. Text for the brochure; and
2. Design of the brochure.
Items for Clarification:
1. It should be noted for the Juneteenth Celebration referenced in the trifold, the following event name and date should be provided: “Juneteenth Celebration of Community Resilience, Healing and Promise,” held on June 19, 2021.
2. The June 25, 2024, Bystander Intervention Training was a City Human Resources hosted/produced event facilitated by Right to Be, held within the confines of an EHRAC meeting as a means of education for both the committee and the community.
FISCAL ANALYSIS
Currently, there is no reported associated fiscal impact with this agenda item.
