It is also recommended that retention funds in the amount of $2,349.40 be released to the contractor after the thirty-five day lien period. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: On March 23, 2009, the City Council awarded a construction contract to Pavement Coatings Company for the Jacob Street Slurry Seal Project, P-910 (CDBG #601088- 08). This street section was identified as requiring a slurry seal per recommendations in the pavement management system. The scope of work consisted of placing a thin layer (approximately 1/8” thick) of slurry seal on Jacob Street from Sentney Avenue to Helms Avenue as well as new pavement markings. The slurry seal will extend the life of the pavement an additional 5-7 years. The project was funded by Community Development Block Grant and State Gas Tax funds. Pavement Coatings Company successfully completed the work as required in the contract on June 12, 2009. There is a one year warranty on the work for any defects. The construction management was performed by staff, and inspection was performed by The Nickerson Company through the on-call general civil engineering contract. City of Culver City, California Agenda Item Report FISCAL ANALYSIS: The original contract amount for the project was $23,494. Since there were no change orders on this project, this was also the final contract amount. This project was funded with CDBG funds (account number 42800910) and Gas Tax funds (account number 41800910). Construction inspection costs amounted to $2,160. Therefore, total expenditures for this project were $25,654. ATTACHMENT: 1.
