RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends City Council accept the work performed by the contractor, Terno,
Inc, and authorize filing a Notice of Completion for the Krueger and Lindblade
(Street) Streetlight Project, P-652 and P-684. It is also recommended that retention
funds in the amount of $33,657.30 be released to the contractor after the thirty-five
day lien period.
BACKGROUND:
On April 17, 2006, the City Council awarded a construction contract to
Terno, Inc. for the Krueger and Lindblade (Street) Streetlight Improvement Project,
P-652 & 684. The existing streetlight system was identified as a priority for
replacement and upgrade. The project was funded by State Gas Tax funds.
Terno, Inc. successfully completed the work as required in the contract. The scope
of work along Krueger Street consisted of the removal and replacement of the
existing streetlights with one (1) 25-foot-high ‘Cobra-head’ streetlight at the street
terminus; and fourteen (14) 11-foot-high traditional marberlite standards with ‘acorn’
lamps. The scope of work along Lindblade Street consists of the removal and
replacement of existing streetlights with six (6) 25-foot-high fluted-steel standards.
The new lights are on parallel circuitry and are spaced such that an appropriate level
of illumination is provided.

Krueger Street Residents (Ince Boulevard to its northerly terminus) and Lindblade
Street Businesses (Higuera Street to its northerly terminus) via First Class Postcard,

2006.

Terno, Inc. completed the streetlight improvement project required in the original
contract on September 6, 2006 with one change order.
FISCAL ANALYSIS:
The original contract amount for the project was $319,700.00. The amount of the
change order was $16,824.00, due to quantity adjustments, resulting in a final
contract amount of $336,573.00.
Sufficient Gas Tax Funds were appropriated for this project (Business Unit
41800652 and 41800684), including the $16,824.00 change order.
Paller-Roberts Engineering, Inc. prepared the construction documents for this
project. Paller-Roberts fee for the design and survey was $19,200.00. The
Construction Management and Inspections were performed by Engineering Division
staff.

MOTION:
That the City Council:
1) Accept the work performed by the contractor, Terno, Inc., for the Krueger and
Lindblade (Street) Streetlight Project, P-652 and P-684;
2) Authorize the Public Works Director to sign the Notice of Completion and submit
it to the Los Angeles County Recorder’s office; and,
3) Authorize the release of $33,657.30 to Terno, Inc following the 35-day lien
period.
