RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) (1) approve letters from the DAC to supporters of 2025 Disability Awareness Month; and (2) authorize transmittal of the letters to the intended recipients.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
At the August 13, 2025, regular meeting, the DAC discussed the drafting of thank you letters to supporters of Disability Awareness Month, including groups and individuals that will be assisting with the 2025 Abilities Carnival and Resource Fair. As was done in 2024, staff provided the committee with one of two options: (1) drafting a form letter during meeting time and approving it for transmittal to recipients of their choosing; or (2) designating a member to write personalized letters outside meeting time and agendizing those letter drafts for review and approval for transmittal by the full committee at a future meeting. The committee chose to select a member to write personalized letters but voted to form the Disability Awareness Month Letter Writing Ad Hoc Subcommittee to allow multiple members to work together on drafting the letters outside meeting time. The committee also agendized review and authorization for transmission of the draft letters at the October 8, 2025, regular meeting.
Staff have prepared this report to give the committee an opportunity to review the draft letters and make comments and updates, if any. Draft letters are provided with this report as Attachment 1, Attachment 2, Attachment 3, and Attachment 4. The committee may also use this time to decide the groups and/or individuals to whom they wish to send the letters.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact associated with this discussion.
