City Attorney Approval: N/A Chief Financial Officer Approval: N/A City Manager Approval: N/A RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Commission hear a report from the Recreational Activities and Special Projects (RA&SP) Subcommittee, discuss the review of Dog Park Ordinances and receive and file the report. BACKGROUND: The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission has determined that the scope of responsibility of the Recreational Activities and Special Projects (RA&SP) Subcommittee is as follows: Support and advise on matters concerning any and all recreational activities and the facilities that support them, including, but not limited to, the Dog Park, the Skate Park and the Plunge. DISCUSSION: The Recreational Activities and Special Projects Subcommittee is currently involved in reviewing the existing Culver City Municipal Code (CCMC) Dog Park Ordinances, specifically § 9.10.400 RULES AND REGULATIONS and § 9.10.405 PENALTIES, to identify areas that may be in need of revision. As one of the PRCS Department’s Workplans, this Ordinance review is a collaboration between the Commission, staff, the City Attorney’s Office and representatives of the Friends of the Culver City Dog Park. City of Culver City, California Agenda Item Report The RA&SP Subcommittee met and participated in a discussion with the other members of the Dog Park Ordinance Review workgroup on Tuesday, November 23, 2010. This agenda item has been prepared to give the Subcommittee an opportunity to report back to the full Commission and for the Commission to discuss the review of Dog Park Ordinances. FISCAL ANALYSIS: There is no fiscal impact associated with the discussion of this Agenda Item. MOTIONS: That the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission: 1. Hear a report from the Recreational Activities and Special Projects Subcommittee; and, 2. Discuss the review of Dog Park Ordinances; and, 3. Receive and file the report.
