(DBA Dynalectric) for an amount not to exceed $676,900 for the construction of the Traffic Signal Upgrade/Communication Infrastructure Certification components of the Fox Hills Area Traffic Signal Synchronization Project P-852. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: The City Council approved the award of a construction contract to KDC Inc. (DBA Dynalectric) on November 26, 2007 for an amount not to exceed $602,420. Subsequently staff discovered a mathematical error in the addition of the bid items shown in Attachment B. Instead of $602,420, the total bid submitted by Dynalectric was $676,900. The corrected bid amount is still below the other contractors’ bid amounts. KDC Inc. FISCAL ANALYSIS: There are sufficient funds in the adopted 2007/08 Capital Improvement Budget for the Fox Hills Area Traffic Signal Synchronization Project (P-852), which includes reimbursable Metro (MTA) Grant funds, developer mitigation funds, and State Gas Tax funds, to fund the proposed work. (DBA Dynalectric) for a not-to-exceed contract fee of $602,420 for the Traffic Signal Upgrade and Communication Infrastructure Certification components of the Fox Hills Area Traffic Signal Synchronization Project, P-852; 2) Authorize a construction contract with KDC Inc. (DBA Dynalectric) for a not-to- exceed contract fee of $676,900 for the Traffic Signal Upgrade and Communication Infrastructure Certification components of Fox Hills Area Traffic Signal Synchronization Project P-852; 3) Authorize the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to have the authority to approve change orders totaling to a not-to-exceed amount of $70,000 for the Traffic Signal Upgrade and Communication Infrastructure Certification contract; and 4) Authorize the City Attorney to prepare the necessary documents and the City Manager to execute the documents on behalf of the City.
