RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council open the public hearing to discuss and receive
public comment regarding the Fiscal 2007-08 City Budget and continue the public
hearing to June 28, 2007 for final public comment, discussion and adoption of the
Resolution approving the Fiscal 2007-08 City Budget.
PROCEDURE:
1) Receive and file the Notice of Affidavit of Publication.
2) Open the Public Hearing.
3) Request a staff report, if desired.
4) Ask for public testimony.
The following procedures are recommended to be continued to the evening of
Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 6:00 PM:
5) Take further public testimony.
6) Close the Public Hearing and discuss the matter.
7) Adopt the Resolution approving the Fiscal 2007-08 City Budget.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

City Council Agenda Item Report
Subsequent to the City Manager’s submission of the proposed Fiscal Year 2007-08
and Tentative Fiscal Year 2008-09 budgets to the City Council on May 14, 2007, the
City Council will have held seven (7) public budget sessions to review and discuss
the needs of the City departments in meeting the service expectations of the
community. As a result of these study sessions, the City Council has made various
revisions to the proposed budget document along with staff initiated technical
changes, which are incorporated in the budget resolution before you for approval
this evening. An additional meeting will be held with the City Council and the public
on Thursday, June 28, 2007, to review final adjustments to the proposed 2007-08
budget.
The need for continuation of this evening’s Public Hearing to adopt the fiscal 2007-
08 budget was due to a need for further discussion, review, and finalizing the
proposed budget with City Council.
