RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council adopt a Resolution that:
1. Orders the Preparation of the Engineer’s Report for the Landscape
Maintenance Assessment District No. 1 (LDM#1) for Fiscal Year
2007/2008; and
2. Declares its intention to Order the Levy of Annual Assessments for
Fiscal Year 2007/2008; and
3. Sets a Public Hearing for June 11, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the Mike
Balkman Council Chambers to order the levy of this assessment
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
LMD#1, consisting of two zones, was created for the purpose of providing on-going
maintenance of landscaping. Location maps will be included in the ordered
Engineer's Report. The assessment for the District includes costs for providing
complete maintenance, administration, and preparation of the Engineer's Report.
FISCAL ANALYSIS:
The Landscaping Maintenance District No. 1 is 100 percent self-supporting for all
expenditures. Property owners within the District are charged for their fair share of
these costs, as will be described in the Engineer’s Report.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA ORDERING THE
PREPARATION OF ENGINEER'S REPORT
PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER
15.01 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CULVER CITY,
CALIFORNIA AND DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO
ORDER THE ANNUAL ASSESSMENT LEVY FOR
LANDSCAPING MAINTENANCE ASSESSMENT
DISTRICT NO. 1 AND SETTING THE TIME AND PLACE
FOR THE PUBLIC HEARING.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Culver City desires to conduct
proceedings for considering the annual assessment of an assessment district pursuant
to the terms and provisions of Section 15 .01.070 of Chapter 15.01 of the Culver City
Municipal Code in what is known and designated as, "LANDSCAPING MAINTENANCE
ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. 1;" and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Culver City desires to complete
the proceedings for the annual levy of the assessments as required by Articles XIII (C)
and (D) of the Constitution of the State of California (Proposition 218); and
WHEREAS, these proceedings for the annual levy of assessments shall
relate to the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2007 and ending June 30, 2008; and
WHEREAS, the provisions of Section 15.01.055, require a written
engineer's report consisting of the following:
1. A diagram of the area proposed to be assessed; and
2. An assessment of the estimated costs for said fiscal year.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Culver City DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE as follows:1|1010101010101010|1. The above recitals are true and correct.
2. The City Council of the City of Culver City declares its intention to
levy the annual assessment for fiscal year 2007/2008.
3. The City Engineer is hereby ordered to prepare and file with the
City Clerk, for submission to the City Council, an Engineer's Report relating to said
annual assessment and levy in accordance with the provisions of Section 15.01.055 of
the Culver City Municipal Code.
4. Upon receipt of the City Engineer's report , and in accordance with
the provisions of Section 15.01.070 of the Culver City Municipal Code, the City Clerk is
hereby ordered to give notice of the time and place a public hearing will be held by the
City Council to consider objections and protests.
5. A pubic hearing is hereby set for June 11, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the
City Hall Council Chambers, located at 9770 Culver Boulevard, Culver City, California
90232.
