RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (1) discuss the report from the Juneteenth Ad Hoc Subcommittee regarding the Juneteenth event program in June 2022; (2) consider approval of report's recommendations and determine next steps; and (3) provide direction to staff if deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
During the March 22, 2022 regular meeting, the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee formed a Juneteenth Ad Hoc Subcommittee and appointed members thereto. The committee members comprised of the Juneteenth Ad Hoc Subcommittee include Chair Rebecca Rona, member Haifaa Moammar, and member Samia Bano.
During the April 26, 2022, Chair Rebecca Rona achieved consensus to agendize this item on the May 24, 2022 special meeting agenda. In addition, discussion of this event is on the May 23, 2022 City Council agenda.
