RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council conduct informational interviews with applicants to the various Culver City commissions, boards, and committees (CBCs).


BACKGROUND/ DISCUSSION

Each spring, the City opens the application period to fill openings on the City's commissions, boards, and committees.

At the May 9, 2016 City Council meeting, the City Council directed the City Manager to hold a special meeting to provide an interview opportunity for applicants in preparation for consideration of appointments to the open positions at a separate City Council meeting. The interview process was determined to be helpful as part of the appointment process and has been repeated each year since.

Interviews of candidates for the openings on commissions will be held first on Monday, June 6, 2022 between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM after which interviews for all other boards and committees will occur.

Candidates will be allotted up to three (3) minutes for each interview and have been instructed to be prepared to answer one question as follows:

? For first-time applicants: What do you understand the position to entail and what do you hope to accomplish as a commissioner, board or committee member?

? For those seeking reappointment: What have you accomplished during your term and what do you hope to accomplish for the upcoming term?
