RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (1) discuss the report from the Asian American Storytelling Ad Hoc Subcommittee for the event program; (2) consider approval of the report's recommendations and determine next steps; and (3) provide direction to staff if deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
During the February 18, 2022 regular meeting, the Asian American Storytelling Ad Hoc Subcommittee achieved consensus to place this item on the March regular meeting agenda.
The Asian American Storytelling Ad Hoc Subcommittee would like to recognize Asian American Awareness month in April and recognize the appreciation of Asian Americans through storytelling. The Asian American Storytelling Ad Hoc Subcommittee coordinated a diverse panel of storytellers who will share stories exploring both the challenges and blessings of being Asian American.
