BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC) is presenting this special event to celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day as a community.

This event features speakers Kevin Locke and Charles Alvarez, Tribal Chairman.

This event includes a native prayer in Lakota, Lakota dancing and music, student art, and a Native American expression of gratitude.

The agenda for this special event is as follows:

I. Opening and welcoming from the EHRAC Chair
II. Introduction of event and first speaker, Kevin Locke
III. A native prayer in Lakota offered by Kevin Locke (whose Lakota name translates to "The First To Arise"). He is an internationally renowned Lakota singer, dancer, instrumentalist and educator.
