RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Commission (1) discuss Parks and Water Bond Act of 2018 (Proposition 68) Per Capita funded projects at Lindberg Park; and (2) consider making a recommendation to the City Council endorsing the project that receives the majority community vote.


BACKGROUND

This Per Capita Program is part of the Parks and Water Bond Act of 2018 (Proposition 68), placed on the ballot via Senate Bill 5 (DeLeon, Chapter 852, statutes of 2017), and approved by voters on June 5, 2018. Funds for the program were appropriated via State Budget item 3790-101-6088(b). The Program is administered by the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation Office of Grants and Local Services (OGALS). Funds are provided for two programs, as described below:

General Per Capita Program (Type 1): Funds are available for local park rehabilitation, creation, and improvement grants to local governments on a per capita basis.
