RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council (1) approve a purchase order to Curbtender Sourcewell for the purchase of a Curbtender Pup Collection Vehicle in the amount of $119,391.02 and (2) authorize the Public Works Director/City Engineer to approve change orders in an amount not-to-exceed $5,000.
BACKGROUND
Public Works Environmental Programs & Operation Division (EPO) provides collection services for the city's pedestrian containers along city streets, the bike paths and at the city's bus stops five days a week. This service is currently being provided with a reserve scout vehicle and a three cubic-yard waste container attached to the rear. Our scout vehicles are primarily used to retrieve waste containers from subterranean parking structures and properties too small for standard collection vehicles to enter. The current collection process creates a potential hazard for motorists and the vehicle operator.
