RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and authorize the publication of a Notice Inviting Bids for the Veterans Park Basketball Court Replacement Project, PZ640.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Project proposes to demolish and reconstruct two basketball courts at the Veteran's Memorial Park. The new basketball courts will preserve the existing courts' dimension and size due to site constraints; however, they will be reconstructed using PCC concrete material instead of asphalt pavement (existing pavement) for a longer life span. Additionally, the PCC concrete will be able to better withstand wear from annual park events such as the La Ballona Festival, Culver City Car Show, and similar affairs.

Paller - Roberts Engineering, Inc., selected from the City's on-call civil engineering subconsultant list, prepared the Project plans and specifications at a cost of $9,500.

The engineer's estimate for construction is approximately $200,000. Tentatively construction is scheduled to occur in June 2020.

Final plans and specifications are available upon request at the City Engineer's office.
