RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council (1) approve a purchase order with Lenco Industries for one Lenco Bearcat Rescue Vehicle in an amount not-to-exceed $450,000.00, including all fees and taxes, and (2) approve a related budget amendment (requires a four-fifths vote).

BACKGROUND


Over the last decade, the City of Culver City has grown in population and density, and is now a premier destination on the west side of Los Angeles County. With the City's growing resident and day-time populations, its' numerous high-profile locations (religious institutions, schools, studios, and other corporate facilities), as well as the upcoming Los Angeles County major events (i.e. the Los Angeles 2021 Super Bowl and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, which will undoubtedly increase visitation to Culver City), staff is evaluating the necessary staffing and equipment needs in case of a large scale critical incident event.

After analyzing the City's emergency response capabilities, the development and implementation of an Emergency Response Team was found to be necessary and prudent.
