RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council (1) receive, file and discuss the final report from the Culver City Community Conversations held on November 29, 2018 and December 1, 2018 relating to the "Revive Civility Cities" program; and (2) if desired, provide direction to the City Manager as deemed appropriate.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On March 12, 2018, the City Council approved Culver City's participation in the "Revive Civility Cities" program sponsored by the University of Arizona's National Institute for Civil Discourse (NICD). NICD selected Culver City as one of five "deep dive" cities nationally to participate in its "Revive Civility Cities" program. Revive Civility Cities is a nonpartisan program where the NICD works with and encourages communities to restore values of civility and respect for each other. NICD worked with Culver City throughout 2018 to help bring Culver City civil discourse strategies around the issue of growth and development in the Fox Hills neighborhood.
