RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council (1) discuss the proposed City Council Strategic Plan for 2018-2023 ("Strategic Plan"); and (2) adopt the Strategic Plan and/or (3) provide direction to the City Manager as deemed appropriate.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On May 18, 2018 and May 19, 2018, the City Council conducted the 2018 City Council Strategic Planning Retreat meetings to discuss the City Council's priority areas for 2018-2023. Yolanda J. Gorman, served as the Facilitator for the Retreat and prepared a Summary and Strategic Plan (attached).

The goals of the retreat were for the City Council Members to engage in a dialogue to (1) consider a variety of issues currently impacting Culver City and to openly brainstorm critical questions to be answered that would help guide solutions; (2) identify strategic priorities that provide a foundation for, or align with priorities to be identified in the general plan; (3) review the progress of the 2016-2021 Strategic Plan; and (4) develop specific strategies and action steps for addressing strategic priorities.

Through these meetings, the City Council refined its discussion topics to the following goals:
