RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council (1) Approve a professional services agreement with SCS Engineers for Solid Waste, Recycling and Organics Waste Characterization Study for the Commercial Sector in an amount not-to-exceed $ 43,876.00; and (2) authorize the Public Works Director/City Engineer to approve amendment(s) to the agreement up to an additional amount of $ 4,387.60.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Public Works Department's Environmental Programs & Operations Division recommends the City obtain the services of a qualified firm to perform a solid waste, recycling and organics waste characterization study of the City's commercial sector. In keeping with its desired goals and continued achievements, the City recognizes the need to continually examine data that may impact the mandates set forth by the State, as well as monitoring the progress of the newly adopted Polystyrene Ban for all food preparation establishments citywide.
