RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) receive and file the report from the Public Works Department regarding proposed accessibility improvements as part of the Better Overland and Safer Fox Hills Projects.


BACKGROUND

The Public Works Department Mobility and Traffic Engineering (M&TE) Division is currently working on the design of the following two projects that propose comprehensive accessibility, pedestrian, transit, and other improvements:

* Better Overland Project (previously referred to as the Overland Bicycle & Pedestrian Improvements Project)
* Safer Fox Hills Project (previous referred to as the Fox Hills Neighborhood Traffic Management Plan and Bikeways Project)

Improvements will include new and/or improved Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps, audible/tactile pedestrian push buttons, and continental (high visibility) crosswalks. A map showing the extents of both projects combined is included as Attachment 1.


DISCUSSION

Staff has scheduled this report to the DAC as an informational item to allow M&TE staff an opportunity to provide an overview of improvements proposed as part of the projects and solicit feedback from DAC Members. The report will be presented by Seni...
