RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC) (1) receive a report from the Race Relations Ad Hoc Subcommittee; and (2) discuss and consider approval of the report's recommendations; and (3) if so desired, determine next steps.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
As a part of the FY 2023/2024 work plan, the Race Relations - Community Conversation event is one of a two-part series designed to help facilitate the education and encourage the sharing of and listening to different perspectives.
At the July 25, 2023, Regular Meeting, during discussions revolving around the work plan and proposed consolidation of events, "Community Conversations- Race Relations" was selected by consensus to move forward.
At the August 22, 2023, Special Meeting, the Race Relations Ad Hoc Subcommittee was created, and members appointed thereto.
At the September 26, 2023, Special Meeting, consensus was achieved to hear a report from the Race Relations Ad Hoc Subcommittee at the January 23, 2024, Regular Meeting.
At the January 23, 2024, Regular Meeting, the Race Relations Ad Hoc Subcommittee presented its report with the following information:
